OUR STORY: ADVERSITY TO EMPOWERMENT
Natural Springs Counseling, PLLC officially opened its doors in 2022, offering a sanctuary for those navigating trauma, transition, and identity. With advanced education and training in EMDR, Trauma Focused Psychotherapy, the Neuro-Sequential Model, and Sand-Tray therapy, I blend clinical expertise with deep empathy, especially for fellow veterans and anyone who’s walked through fire and come out searching for peace.
My practice was born from lived experience of hardship, resilience, and the unwavering belief that healing is possible.
I, grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where poverty and parental substance abuse shaped my earliest memories. By 14, I was working to support myself, navigating a world that demanded strength long before it offered safety. That strength became a calling.
In 2010, I joined the National Guard, driven by a desire to earn an education, serve and protect. I earned my Bachelor's in Family Studies and Human Development in 2014 at the University of New Mexico, then commissioned as an Active Duty Officer. I spent four years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where I mastered the art of bureaucracy, and deepened my understanding of leadership, trauma, and the quiet battles many veterans face long after deployment.
But my mission was never just military, it's human. In 2019, I completed my Master’s in Counseling with a focus in Clinical and Mental Health at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Between my BS and MA I have worked across diverse settings including: early developmental centers (tiny humans, big feelings), residential treatment for teens (angst with a side of grit), and private practice for children, adolescents, and adults (yes, even your ex). Each role deepened my commitment to creating spaces where people feel safe, seen, and empowered. I am comfortable working with diverse backgrounds due to my personal, educational and work life experiences.
In 2021, I welcomed Remington, an XL American Bully with a heart as big as her paws, into my life and practice. Trained as a therapy dog, Remi brings comfort, connection, and a gentle reminder that healing doesn’t always come in words.
Here, therapy isn’t just treatment. It’s reclamation. It’s storytelling. It’s the quiet courage to begin again.
